What is this thing?

The Tour De Tavern is literally a bike for you and your friends to ride together. 6 people pedal on each side while there is room for up to 4 to sit on the back bench seat for a total of 15 passengers. While you and your friends enjoy socializing with each other, our Tour De Tavern driver is responsible for all steering and breaking, as well as enforcing any and all rules aboard Tour De Tavern, (which riders must agree to ahead of time). The bike has a top speed of 5-8 MPH depending how fast everyone pedals together and obeys all traffic laws when out on the street.

Our bike has been custom built to our exact specifications in order to provide our customers the best possible experience. The bike comes equipped with the following amenities:

- Built in cooler for your beverages capable of holding up to 360 cans! (No glass please)
- Plenty of storage for food, bags, purses, etc
- Sound system to with iPod hook up, don’t forget yours!
- Adjustable seat heights
- Interior & exterior accent lighting
- Head light, and signal lights for night time operation

We unfortunately are not the inventor of this contraption, but we do think ours is one of the best! Originally from the Netherlands, there are similar bikes in operation in Europe, and even parts of the USA.

And yes we know what you’re thinking, yes we have insurance, and no believe it or not the risk of riding on one of these bikes is actually considered to be lower than riding in a car!

Your Tour De Tavern questions answered!

How much does Tour De Tavern cost?
It ONLY costs between $10-12 per seat per hour!!!

Can I drink alcohol on the Tour De Tavern?
Unfortunately not yet but we are working with state and local officials to allow this to happen. In the meantime if you are participating in one of our bar crawls you will be able to enjoy a drink or two at one of our many stops along the tour.

Is the Tour De Tavern still fun without being able to drink on it?
Yes! Half the fun is trying something new, and during our pub crawls you can still enjoy great specials on drinks at our participating partner bars at our various stops.

Does Tour De Tavern provide food or drink?
No. Riders can bring any permissible food or beverages they wish though. We have plenty of storage inside our roof rack.

How many people can ride on the Tour De Tavern?
The Tour De Tavern carries up to 17 people total including our driver. There are 6 pedaling seats on each side, and up to 4 people can enjoy sitting on the rear bench seat without having to pedal.

What if it’s cold, rainy, or windy the day of my reservation?
Tour De Tavern operates rain or shine. However if severe weather does occur, (think Lightning or Haboob) Tour De Tavern reserves the right to cancel the tour and offer the renter a rain check. We also offer a rain check if the tour has to be canceled due to weather within the first hour of the tour.

What if our tour takes too long?
You may be charged a late fee if you are unable to get the bike back to the agreed upon finish area within 15 minutes of the scheduled finish time. The time it takes to complete a tour is completely up to the people pedaling as the driver does not pedal. All routes have been test pedaled by our staff so we know roughly how long each route takes. (Please note any traffic or other situation out of our control with be taken into consideration in determining any late fees).

Do you provide a driver for the Tour De Tavern?
Absolutely! Our insurance requires it.

Who can’t ride Tour De Tavern?
On our bike seats there is a minimum height requirement of 5’ or taller and a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds for each person on the bike seats. However if you do fall into this area our rear seat is the perfect place to accommodate you so that you can still enjoy Tour De Tavern. Also all pub crawl rides require all participants be at least 21+ and provide proper identification. Family tours require all passengers be at least 14 years old on day of the tour.

Who’s in charge of the Tour De Tavern?
1. The driver. He is the final word when it comes to safety during the tour, and what constitutes proper conduct. If you act in any way he deems inappropriate or unsafe he will ask you to get off and find your own way home.

2. The renter. As you can imagine with so many people on one bike, the driver will only listen to what the renter (the one whose credit card we have on file) has to say. We do not want to chaperone or try to coordinate everyone’s wants on the bike.

What’s the liability waiver for, and do you offer helmets?
Of course with anything of this nature there is the possibility of injury. You should have a reasonable expectation that there is always the possibility of a fall or scraping your knee. We do offer bike helmets, but that is completely up to you if you want to wear one or not. However no matter what if you choose to wear a helmet or not you take responsibility for all risks associated with riding on the Tour De Tavern.

When and how do I pay for my trip on the Tour De Tavern?
The renter pays when he books the tour. Then the tour is confirmed once the renter receives an email from Tour De Tavern confirming the booking. The rental can be paid by Debit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Cash will be accepted on day of tour only after the renter has paid initially with his credit card. At that point the cash will be accepted and the credit card refunded and kept on file in case any late fees or damage is incurred.

What if I want to cancel or reschedule my tour?
If you need to cancel your tour, the renter has the choice of a 50% refund or a rain check valid for 90 days if the cancelation occurs 30 or more days prior to the tour. If you cancel with 29-14 days before the tour you are eligible for a rain check only good for 90 days. If you cancel with less than 14 days notice we will unfortunately be unable to offer you a refund or rain check.

Does the Tour De Tavern operate year round?

What are the hours of operation?
Hours of operation will generally start no earlier than 9am and end by 12am. However we are open to working with you to meet your needs so please don’t hesitate to ask!

What is the minimum number of people needed to pedal the Tour De Tavern?
We recommend a minimum of 8, 4 peddlers per side. Although it is possible with less we definitely don’t recommend it!

Can Tour De Tavern provide additional peddlers to help power our group?
Yes we can, but we need to know in advance when you book, and the renter will incur an additional $25 per hr per peddler for the entirety of the tour.

How fast is the Tour De Tavern?
Not very! We can guarantee though it will be the most fun that you’ll ever have traveling at speeds between 5-7mph on flat ground.

Can the Tour De Tavern go up hills?
Yes, but only small ones. Any hill with a grade greater than 3-4% for any distance will more than likely force some of the riders to have to get off and push. Luckily Old Town has very few hills!

Can I design my own route for my Tour De Tavern trip?
It depends; we are open to hearing your ideas and if the route makes sense and we can safely operate chances are we can work to accommodate your request.

Does the Tour De Tavern have music?
Absolutely! Bring your iPods or MP3 players to listen to your favorite music, or if you forget you can always listen to ours.

I would like to use the Tour De Tavern to help promote or advertise my business, is this possible?
Yes! Please give us a call or shoot us an email and we can work to meet your needs.

Alcohol & Food
Currently we are working with both State and local officials to allow our customers to B.Y.O.B. It has successfully been achieved in other states, so we feel confident it’s only a matter time until we can do the same. In the meantime we invite you to bring any snacks and non-alcoholic beverages you choose on board, and of course enjoy any of the specials we’ve negotiated with our partners for you as we make stops throughout your tour.
